Piano
Born in Marseille in 1947. Jacques ROUVIER studied with Vlado
PERLEMUTER, Pierre SANCAN, Jean FASSINA and Jean HUBEAU. He obtained first prizes in
Piano and Chamber Music from the Paris National Music Conservatory in 1965
and 1967. A profound and proficient musician, he has won several international prizes : the Viotti prize in
Vercelli, the Maria Canals prize in Barcelona, the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud prize and the prize
awarded by the Fondation de la Vocation (France).
ln 1970 he founded the ROUVIER-KANTOROW-MULLER Trio with which he regularly
performs. An eminent teacher, he was named Professor of Piano at the Paris National Music
Conservatory in 1979 and has been often invited to do master-classes around
the world: in Montreal, Vancouver, Saint-Jean-de-Luz (the Maurice Ravel
Academy), and the international Music Academies in Nice, Les Arcs and Courchevel.
His recordings have always been warmly received and have won prizes including the Grand Prix du Disque and the Grand Prix du Disque Français.
Over the fast 25 years he has played innumerable concerts in France and around the world and
always with great success and joy. Jacques ROUVIER's artistic career is the
reflection of his rich personality : his musical instinct, his powerful and moving
poetic imagination and his perfect knowledge of the repertory have been praised by critics
everywhere.
Né à Marseille dans une famille de musiciens, Jacques ROUVIER
reçut l'enseignement de Vlado
PERLEMUTER, Pierre SANCAN et Jean HUBEAU
au CNSM de Paris, où il obtint ses prix de
piano et de musique de chambre, et où il compléta sa
formation en Harmonie et Direction d'orchestre.
Il doit à Pierre BARBIZET ainsi qu'à Jean FASSINA un grand enrichissement
pédagogique et humain.
Lauréat des concours Viotti, M. Canals,
Union Européenne de Radio, M. Long-J.
Thibaud, Fondation de la Vocation, il fonde en 1970 le trio ROUVIER-KANTOROW-MULLER
avec lequel il se produit toujours régulièrement.
Il a participé à de nombreux festivals et académies (Prades,
Spoleto, Kuhmo, Aix-en-Provence, Hamamatsu) et donné des Master Classes dans
le monde entier.
Ses enregistrements de l'intégrale de l'oeuvre pour piano de M. Ravel ainsi
que les sonates de Ravel et Debussy avec J.J. KANTOROW ont reçu le Grand
Prix du Disque. Il a également enregistré l'oeuvre complète de Debussy et
une trentaine d'autres CDs.
Invité à participer aux jurys de prestigieux concours internationaux (Tchaïkovsky,
Leeds, Santander, Rubinstein, Marguerite Long), il enseigne depuis 1979 au
CNSM de Paris, ainsi qu'à l'UDK de Berlin.
